Simply a sequel to his earlier 'Demise in Fantasy', William Gray's 'Fantasy', Art and Life: Essays on George MacDonald, Robert Louis Stevenson and Other Fantasy Writers' examines the ways in which 'Life' in its different senses is affirmed, explored and improved through the work of the creative imagination, particularly in fantasy literature. The dialogue features a selection of fantasy writers, but concentrates primarily on two writers of the Victorian period, George MacDonald and Robert Louis Stevenson, whose Scottish (and especially Calvinist) skills seriously impacted their wedding using what MacDonald named 'The Fantastic Imagination'.
